Taipei Center

Taipei Center is designed to be an office tower and a shopping mall, located at the downtown Taipei.

Currently this site is Taipei Xinyi District Office, which is a fixer-upper that seriously needs to be rebuilt. This site is very valuable because it locates at the center of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. Therefore, I decided that this site should have a shopping mall that attracts young people to shop, and an office tower to drive Taipei's economy.

Because of Taipei 101's height, it became the landmark of Taipei. I made the design of Taipei Center to make Taipei 101's role more prominent. The design of Taipei 101 originates from bamboo, which is a Chinese symbol for "growing steadily." Therefore, I made Taipei Center look like a bamboo sprout to not only reinforce the idea that Taipei 101 is the main character, but also to symbolize that Taipei's economy will grow steadily.
